Ah … but are the kids real, or has the idea of them just been planted in Leonardo’s brain so that he’ll do this one last job?
Alternatively, Inception may have been so in love with CGI that minor points like plot consistency, character motivation and general, all round notions of “does that make sense?” were deemed incidental to the project.
Come on, he was getting paid a lot of money to implant the idea, no one was going to pay him to fly his kids to France.
Anyway he dreamed the final scene, he speaks to one of his children earlier in the film and they sound much older than the two children shown in the final scene.
For what it’s worth, I think the humour is only intensified by the misspelling of Michael Caine’s name. It speaks to the dumb clarity of this simple plot flaw, overlooked by a director not keen to let the details get in the way of a good story.

Very funny. The cleverness only marred slightly by the misspelling of Michael Caine’s name.

PRIMUS: I got hired by an Asian man to put an idea in your head.
SECUNDUS: Really?! What does he look like?

danyl – it ruined the movie constantly thinking the thought you have just espoused, and that was before I read this post.
