From the Police media site:
Last night two New Zealand and two Australian Police officers came across the man, who was harassing some contract workers on the Ferrymead Bridge.
The New Zealand officers spoke to the man and introduced him to their Australian counterparts.
The man then said the Australian Police were “scary” and allegedly confessed to looting a nearby bar. He had allegedly stolen two bottles of alcohol and a bottle of water.
Police arrested the man, who is now in custody and facing charges.
Indeed.

So the Aussie cops confessed to looting a nearby bar? They may love a drink, but that’s going too far.

The Australian police are not that scary. Why, hardly anyone dies after repeatedly falling down the same flight of stairs any more. And with Christchurch weather it’s not as though being locked in the back of a police van for 10 hours is likely to be fatal. Sheesh, they probably didn’t even have
gunsmental illness treatment tools with them. All he had to do was look white and he’d be fine.Comment by moz — February 27, 2011 @ 1:29 pm

Awesome headline, Danyl.
If the Aussie cops are that scary perhaps we could establish a long-term exchange programme and scatter them throughout NZ. Or train NZ cops to speak with an Aussie twang, to put the frighteners on wimpy crims.

two bottles of alcohol and a bottle of water.
It’s great to see the ‘responsible drinking’ message is getting through.

Obviously we need more scary Aussie cops to cut through the bullshit, but not after they loot bars.

This is SUCH an overreaction. I live in Sydney and have hardly been assaulted by the cops at all this week.
