Deep thought of the day, punching your weight edition

I’m not a fancy political strategist, but I do think Labour’s campaign manager should focus less on bloggers and more on targets that have slightly more relevance to the general public. Like, say, the the government and its Ministers.

  1. I guess that this is an example of what Whaleoil calls the “stealing underpants” strategy…

  2. I’m very comfortable with labour’s campaign manager’s approach to the job, and am looking forward to having lunch with him after the election to debrief.

  3. If only every Alliance supporter would just come to their senses and vote Labour.

Then Labour would be 0.08% better off.

  4. Any chance Hooton and Mallard could have that lunch date before the election? Go to a nice Japanese restaurant, share a plate of Fugu, win-win …

  10. What I found most fascinating was the suggestion by a Red Alert commenter (who from past comments seems to be a Labour party member) that “Trevor Mallard is not the party’s overall campaign manager. He’s the parliamentary party’s campaign strategist.”

This begs soooo many questions -
    1) what political party has MPs running a campaign distinct from the party itself?
    2) does that indicate how little power the party has over the Labour caucus?
    3) does it require a team of Employment Relations Authority mediators to get consensus between Mallard and his party’s campaign manager?
    4) Are Labour’s caucus strategist and party campaign manager just 2 personalities of Trev’s?

Oh the hours of endless speculation? Personally, I reckon Labour’s campaign strategy is being run by a crew of demented P-addict gerbils with a KFC fetish, whilst playing Elton John and Queen simultaneously. Of course, the gerbils could be running ACT’s campaign; Labour may be guided by a crack team of lemmings…

  11. oh Bob, we peons of limited intelligence and breeding will never understand what is required to run a Labour campaign strategy. I hear that Trevor is going to fly to Australia soon to recover damning evidence of John Keys involvement in the Australian Health Union fraud and will return instead with 2 dozen Fosters, a packet full of used fities and a virulent case of pox.

  12. currently watching the ABs beat the French on Maori TV and remembering how nasty little arsehole Mallard said that it was racism to give money to Maori TV.

  13. Maori TV’s coverage is a lifesaver – if I hear Hamish McKay talk about “claret” or “the dark arts of the front row” one more time, i will kill him
