A reason to respect the MSM perhaps.

best thing ever sung through a multi tracked strangled nostril
“Maximum big suprise your smile is something new
I pull my shirt off and pray, we’re sacred and bound to suffer the
heatwave
Pull my shirt off and pray we’re coming up on re-election day’

If the debating chamber were more like that, Parliament TV would be a lot more popular.

Ah! The 80s. I still have fond memories of attending a wedding in 1984, long planned, which just happened to coincide with the snap election called by a rather tipsy Robert Muldoon. This, of course, gave the Best Man the perfect opening to begin his speech with the lines “Confucius say man velly fortunate to have Election on wedding day…” Inappropriate, I know, but politcial correctness had yet to be invented in those days…

To be fair to Duran Diuran they were in crisis, they’d had a terrible past year and their brightest and best had apparently flown to coop for more profitable shores. There’s no comparison, really.

I think this song is more appropriate for John Banks given the election night result. I know he has a lot of friends around here:
