Peters has that keeping-them-honest schtick going which appeals to people.

I know some very good people, ie that can be relied upon to do good by others, who have voted for him. And others who vote more centre left who, when it came to the crunch, couldn’t be relied upon.

It’ll be interesting to see if this dents Peters appeal.

Easily explainable; (i) Winston’s 5% are often taking a nap between elections and (ii) that nice man Roy Morgan always call’s when Coro is on so they’ve stopped answering.

I don’t think NZF voters will suddenly think “Gosh! I hope my secret party vote for Winston won’t make people think I support racist jerkoff’s getting a seat on his coat-tails!”

I know a few people who considered voting for NZFirst simply because they liked Winston. They had no real idea, and didn’t care, that other people came with him. Actually seeing them do something makes for quite a shock (isn’t this the second or third party member that’s brought widespread negative attention down on them? Which is a lot, considering the size of the party!)

My favourite bit of Prosser’s prose is when goes on about how his kids are virgins of “Norse and Celtic lineage”.

The dude’s an out-and-out white supremacist. So, presumably, is his audience.
I was intrigued by his suggestion that not only should people who *look* islamic be banned from flying, i.e. swarthyness and semitic nose and so forth (but he’s not racist!), but also people who *are* islamic but don’t look it. Has anyone inquired into how their underlying dangerosity should be made apparent? Does it involve the compulsory wearing of an armband of some form?

Anecdotally, I’ve heard a number of people say they decided to vote strategically for New Zealand First in a particular election, while not really considering themselves New Zealand First supporters. I have wondered if some NZF MPs also joined NZF for strategic reasons, rather than having been NZF supporters before they joined.

I’m not sure I see any upside it recognising that POV, irrespective of how many NZers secretly hold it.

Oh, there’s definitely an upside to recognising the depressing fact that many NZers share his views. Realism is its own reward.

Hmm. I’d say the ‘Undecided but thinking NZF’ voter bloc is pretty small inasmuch as you pretty much know what you are getting with Winston.
Then again, maybe that’s just my observation bias.
