Inelegant metaphor of the day

Filed under: Politics — danylmc @ 6:15 am

I haven’t been able to follow the election as closely as I normally would – but to me it feels like a game of Pac-Man, in which National are the ghosts, who dominated the agenda and before whom Labour could only flee in terror or die. Now, somehow, Labour’s performed the political equivalent of eating a power pellet and the situation is reversed.

More clumsy video-game analogies as they come to hand. (Don Brash = Paradroid?)

  1. So how long will it take for the power boost to run out?

  2. Donkey Kong … Labour having to climb ladder after ladder whilst avoiding all sorts of potentially deadly obstacles being hurled by a dominant figure at the top of the pile – then, when they get to the top, having to do it all again.

And why aren’t you paying more attention? Don’t you care about democracy? Is Sadie’s Nanny not up to the job?

  3. Look, it’s been aaaages (months and months) since a Labour figure has been involved in a sex and/or corruption scandal…

  4. The four ghosts in Pac-Man were known as Blinky, Pinky, Inky and Clyde. They all work by different chase algorithms — there’s a great explanation here:

  8. Defender was great but it required far too much money to learn how to use more than 2 buttons at the same time.

  15. Don Brash = Paradroid very much so, bearing in mind he can only control his host for a limited time before they both die. However if polls show National can’t govern alone the humanoid Key will send an entire army of servant droids in Brash’s direction.
