From the discussion thread in a previous post:

Anonymous activists broke into [Redacted]’s Tinakori Road apartment when he was in Auckland with his boyfriend. We photocopied documents relating to his and his wife’s messy divorce and employment proceedings with the GCSB. We copied the hard disks of his laptop. We have a mass of documents relating to the GCSB’s spying on Japan, Indonesia, and Middle Eastern Countries and people of a MIddle Eastern origin in New Zealand as well. We also have evidence of the GCSB monitoring Chinese commercial interests on behalf of the United States.

Evidence:

1. [Redacted] was caught by his wife fucking men when stationed to the NSA

2. NZ spied on Japan re the IWC

More to come if you can handle it Danyl, or maybe I should seek another outlet?

Anonymous

Much more to come; much more

I can’t handle it. Go bug Andrea Vance.

  3. Did Redacted have a photocopier in their house? Or did they leave a brick in the door while they pop down to the local library to make some copies?

Also, he’s gone to Auckland for how long? If I were a top superspy I’d probably take a laptop with me if I was going out of town, to you know, work. Or potentially follow the protocol of most information sensitive organisations and not bring any work home.

  6. “…the Glenn whatshisname…”

His name is Glenn Greenwald, he has three New York Times bestsellers, and he has won a Pulitzer prize and a George Polk Award for his National Security Reporting in relation to the whistle blower Edward Snowden.

You seem to be remarkably uninformed on this currently very important journalist. Here is Mr. Greenwalds wikipedia entry, go knock yourself out with new knowledge.

He’s also a disgraceful attention hound who has dripfed the Snowden leaks for what could be regarded as less than noble motives, but I guess you get the good with the bad.

  9. @ Gregor W: He’s also a disgraceful attention hound who has dripfed the Snowden leaks…

On the other hand, the drip feed does mean that NSA et al. continually need to re-explain themselves. So, it keeps the problem in the public’s attention.

If there had been a single dump of Snowden documents, then there would most likely have been a week or so of bad press for the NSA and friends, followed by some sort of congression/parliamentary/”independent” inquiry. So, in the fullness of time we would get a report claiming that while problems had been found new processes would ensure it never happened again, and besides it is all now moot as some shiny new legislation has clarified the NSA’s legal position. C.f. the inquiry into GCSB domestic spying in NZ.

@ RJL: Sort of. Everyone who lives anywhere that has access to teh interwebz knows that the NSA cannot possibly be trusted to tell the truth about what they do or who they do it to, so any “revelations” are also somewhat moot.

You don’t need to be continually bitten by the dog to know you need to shoot it.

  12. Sure, Greenwald is an ego driven freak who does weird shit and says weirder shit. His critics are often pretty same same too.

For me though, Greenwald has been a prick for a long time. he was prick to people when he was non stop on the torture under bush, and the various other legal scandals. he doesn’t back down. And yeah, he’s a prick about it. this is all known.

And Snowden picked him out as the guy he trusted with the leak. End of story really. Cause it’s the story that counts.

Deepthroat, we now know, wasn’t acting with the best of motives. Woodward, is a massive massive douche. Watergate though.

That’s the one and when Woodward and Bernstein got leaked on they had zero credentials and zero awards, in fact I think the WaPo was trying to get rid Bernstein. You don’t need credentials to tell which way the wind is blowing, eh Sanctuary?

If Sanc were to pick Laura Poitras for his next imaginary friend would she be a prick too? Let’s put Luke Harding and Alan Rushbridger up against the wall once the dictatorship of the pure in heart comes to pass. This is only happening because Tinakori appeared to attempt a little irony, ffs.

  17. ..”Did Redacted have a photocopier in their house?”

Theres an app for that !. No seriously. A cellphone camera will copy any document. The app even corrects for the angle between the plane of the camera and the flat document.
You can then even send it directly to a fax machine. Otherwise send to cloud or similar so if you are caught on exit you have copies

The NSA of course can do more , much more
